Goldenboy aka Shon Sullivan and childhood friend and musical co-conspirator Bryan Bos (drums and back up vocals) have lit up the singer/songwriter flame in this relaxing indie pop nugget they call Underneath The Radio. The album is filled with quiet layered vocals that create the perfect soundtrack for these cooler September days. Sullivan’s voice is a flawless combination of an acoustic Morrissey, Neil Finn and Stuart Murdoch pressed with a little Elliott Smith. To help out on the album Goldenboy have a long list of special guests that include Neil Finn, Lisa Germano, Sebastian Steinberg, Scott McPherson, Matt Sharp, David J. Carpenter and Phil Jordan. With such included talent and the late great Elliott Smith naming the group, Underneath The Radio is a no risk buy and a refreshing listen.
