Bears: Shortest Day Of The Year EP

Bears
Shortest Day Of The Year EP
Self-Released [2007]

Fire Note Says:
Another solid offering from unsigned indie band!

Album Review:
The Bears are one of those bands that I can’t believe is not on a major independent label yet. After last years stellar debut (number 15 on our 2006 best of list) this EP is just another showcase of the bands talents. The Shortest Day Of The Year EP is really a mini-album containing seven songs of soft harmonic tracks that get better with each listen. The Cleveland bands style is in the same genre as Death Cab, Rogue Wave, and Band Of Horses with their hush vocals and pleasant melodies that are as infectious as they are catchy. On Shortest Day Of The Year you will find the band expanding their songwriting skills and being a bit more reflective in the subject matter, which gives the EP more of a subdued vibe compared to their debut LP, but delivering equally satisfying results. This hard work and growth will only benefit the band and we are highly anticipating the bands second full length to be released early next year, but until then the Shortest Day EP will tidy us over.

Key Tracks: "Those Years", "Reason To Cry", "You Can Tell"
