Album Review:
Made In The Dark is the third release from the UK’s electro-alternative band Hot Chip and it drops next week. The anticipation for album number three has been very high following the bands sophomore and Mercury Prize Nominated album The Warning [2006]. The good news is that not only did Hot Chip handle the pressure but Made In The Dark is a more complete and possibly catchier record then the groups previous two. Hot Chip have the perfect balance of electronic, dance, alternative, and pop which makes songs like “Shake A Fist” and “Ready For The Floor” stand out with their distinct beats, solid vocals and carefree vibe. What makes Hot Chip successful is that their albums do not feel overproduced or oversampled. They approach each album in the same manner which means that most of the record is recorded at home and produced by the band. Made In The Dark went through this same process and the end result is an album full of tracks that makes hitting repeat a real treat and will fit easily into your newest shuffle playlist.
