Fire Note Says: Not your average bar band!
Album Review:
The Revisionists may be a new band to the scene but the trio is no stranger to the rock world. Dan Lavery and Kevin Shepard were both members of the mid-90s post-grunge band Tonic and more recently Lavery has been playing bass for The Fray. Sam Jones directed the Wilco documentary I Am Trying To Break Your Heart and has produced other records on Loveless’ roster (Tom Brosseau, The Shackeltons). Bringing this experience to the table and having Lavery’s own recording studio at their disposal led to The Revisionists getting together weekly and jamming out the rock until the songs took shape. Most of the decisions were made fast, but more from instinct than haste, and tried to capture the fresh energy in the first take. This balance of freedom and experience shines thru on their self-titled debut that runs a perfect 10 songs in 34 minutes of guitar garage filled romps. It is an album that you can put on and take off which keeps your feet tapping’ the whole time and ensures that you come back for more.
