Fire Note Says: This album should get veteran band noticed!
Album Review:
The Mid-West is all about keeping their favorite bands secret and that is exactly what you will find here with Evansville, Indiana band Mock Orange. Mock Orange have been releasing albums since 1998 and never really have had much exposure but hopefully based on the strength of Captain Love that will change some. From the marching and whisking title track opener frontman Ryan Grisham leads the listener through the quick and smart rhythmic movements the band drives and puts you at ease as the harmonies fall right in line. Tracks like "Songs In D" and "World Of Machines" have a simple groove to them that instantly catches your ear and makes you want to hit repeat. If you are a fan of The Shins or Band Of Horses scene then Mock Orange will not disappoint because their sound is of the same textbook and their experience as a band brings a cohesiveness to the record that definitely highlights their veteran status.
Key Tracks: "World Of Machines", "Captain Love", "Majestic Raincoat"
