Mark Charles Heidinger is the man and voice behind Vandaveer's somewhat straightforward folk output. Vandaveer definitely offers a different side of Heidinger, as he is also the frontman for the indie rock band Apparitions and plays bass sometimes for These United States. The tracks on Divide & Conquer are styles away from his other work and with the supporting harmonies from Rose Guerin the record oozes emotion down to the very last guitar strum. This creates an atmosphere that highlights Heidinger's songwriting ability and makes repeat plays of Divide & Conquer more rewarding each time.
