WheatWhite Ink, Black Ink
The Rebel Group [2009]

Fire Drill Review:
You may not be familiar the band Wheat, but you should, as they broke into the scene over ten years ago with their solid debut Medeiros [1998] and its follow up Hope And Adams [1999]. After releasing a good major label record in 2003, the band did not return until 2007's Everyday I Said A Prayer For Kathy And Made A One Inch Square. That record was much more deconstructed then their previous work, so White Ink, Black Ink definitely feels more focused and consistent. Its success stems from bringing back the short catchy melodies and low key vibe of their late 90's work, while still sounding fresh and innovative. Wheat will always be a band that can surprise and sound relevant - White Ink, Black Ink fits that description!
