The Static Jacks: Laces [EP]

The Static Jacks
Laces [EP]
Self-Released [2009]

Fire Drill Review:
We stumbled upon New Jersey's Static Jacks late last year and thoroughly enjoyed their energetic indie efforts. Well - this young band (all but one are 19) is back with an even more focused EP, that takes a straight forward classic sound of early 80's punk and blends it with a modern New York Strokes vibe. This combo is deadly infectious, as the Laces EP contains five songs that have a stellar musical tightness, a cool laid back swagger and an instant replay value. It is not that the Static Jacks present anything we have not heard before but that The Static Jacks rekindle the feelings of why we always refer back to bands like The Jam, Velvet Underground or The Clash. This synergy is very present with The Static Jacks and the Laces EP continues the hype for this Generation Y band, that should erupt upwards in preparation for an eventual full length!

Key Track: "My Parents Lied"

The Static Jacks are an great band & the new EP is excellent. Make sure you check out some of their older songs ... "Wine Cellar", "Stay a Lover", "Fire on the Bridge & in the Tunnel Below", and "The Waltz" are incredible tracks.
