The Blakes: Souvenir

The Blakes
Souvenir
Self-Released [2009]

Fire Drill Review:
The Blakes offer no glam, no over production and no label but what the Seattle band does give you, is a honest 60's influenced garage rock that has a balance of grit and melody, which makes their sophomore effort Souvenir a solid listen. The trio offers up sixteen tracks this time, which gives them a bit more artistic freedom to slow things down at points like on "So Easy" and extend tracks out past the three minute mark. Although there is nothing quite as catchy or rocking as their single "Two Times" from their self-titled debut record this expanded structure fits The Blakes classic sound and offers enough highlights to keep you coming back!

Key Track: "Basket"
