Fire Drills Review:
Buffalo's Gifted Children don't let much creative grass grow under their feet as they have put out around 20 releases over the last two years. What they bring to the table are just a prolific amount of material that has many different little styles but overall is a complete indie experience. On My Museum Pieces the group has over 15 people contributing to the 11 new songs but as a group The Gifted Children offer one of their most cohesive efforts to date. Each song seems to fit right into the next as the ending noise of "Offshore News" flows into the delicate and catchy 1 minute long "A Weathervane Alliance", which is just one perfect example. This is followed by the hum along "You Smashing Young Prince", that highlights the more straightforward effort on this record. It is all these parts that show that a band does not need 5 minutes to make a great pop song. The Gifted Children did it before with more lo-fi efforts and they do it again as My Museum Pieces offers a more surround and full sound that not only showcases a further side of the group but makes this another solid release in an already extensive catalog!
