Grant-Lee Phillips: Little Moon

Fire Note Says: Consistency is Phillips strength!

Album Review:
Grant-Lee Phillips has one of those voices that is instantly recognizable and regardless of a songs pace he always comes through with a smooth and controlled delivery that allows his recordings to just float. It is this ability that made Grant Lee Buffalo such a great band and it is what makes Phillips fifth solo record Little Moon a hit. This record finds Phillips in an upbeat mood, as he was inspired by the birth of his daughter Violet and the creative vibe from capturing most songs live recorded in the studio with only a few tweaks. This gives Little Moon a very natural sound and it can be heard clearly on both the piano swagger upbeat tracks like in "It Ain't The Same Old Cold War Harry" and thoughtful ballads such as "Older Now". It is refreshing to hear Grant-Lee Phillips in this state of mind and at 45 he is at a songwriting peak, which easily makes Little Moon worth every minute you give it, while his voice will keep you coming back!

Key Tracks: "Good Morning Happiness", "It Ain't The Same Old Cold War Harry", "Older Now"
