Fire Drill Review:
We already heard from Orenda Fink earlier this year in her more orchestrated and earthy collaboration group O+S, but Ask The Night finds her settling in perfectly with this more simple folk record. Ask The Night highlights Fink's superb vocals, while including a multitude of instrumentation to achieve this more roots sound like an acoustic and slide guitar, mandolin, banjo, accordion, violin, upright bass and even a little saw! This record does feel like a step forward for Fink, as it features a wide variety of players and singers that includes Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse) on "High Ground". At the end of the day, you can't deny the gorgeousness of Orenda's voice, which for fans makes Ask The Night a must, while newcomers will just be in awe and join the bandwagon quickly!
