Pugwash: Giddy

Pugwash
Giddy
Ape House Records [2009]

Fire Drill Review:
Giddy is a solid compilation of tracks from the Irish band Pugwash, which debut power-pop album released in 1999. Pugwash, aka songwriter Thomas Walsh and friends, has been an instant favorite of Irish and British music critics but has not had much success here. This album was compiled by Andy Partridge (XTC) and Walsh as 11 tracks here have been re-mastered from the original multi-tracks and span the bands career. It also includes two additional new songs from their forthcoming record Eleven Modern Antiquities scheduled for release in January 2010. Pugwash have a very likable sound that fits in the style category of the Beatles, Squeeze, Crowded House and The Zombies. Giddy is the perfect introduction and showcases that Pugwash is worth the time and should be checked out if you have never heard them before.

Key Track: "Anyone Who Asks"
