Will Hoge: The Wreckage

Will Hoge
The Wreckage
Rykodisc [2009]

Fire Drill Review:
Will Hoge makes a welcomed return on his fourth record The Wreckage, that follows his nearly fatal accident in which a truck struck his scooter during the recording sessions for the album. Many of the songs were written after the accident, which might make you think that is all about his survival experience but other than the title, his tracks are more about the joys of making solid music that revolve around Southern love, Americana and the power of rock. The focus on songwriting and a new respect for life does come through behind the music, which makes The Wreckage one of Hoge's best records and should set him up for success as the album has an overwhelming confidence and excellent replay value.

Key Track: "Even If It Breaks Your Heart"

Band With Similar Fire: Jakob Dylan
