NirvanaBleach [Deluxe Edition]
Sub Pop Records [1989; re:2009]

Fire Drill Review:
Bleach was the Nirvana debut record that got big after Nevermind [1991] exploded and the band completely changed the music scene forever. Admittedly so from Cobain, Bleach did not have the strongest songwriting but what it did have was vigor and attitude. When you make a record for $600 bucks there is only so much "production" you get in the studio and this new reissue attempts to remove several of those blemishes with its remastering and more vibrant sound. The real keeper for this collection is the second disc of an unreleased live recording on February 9th, 1990 at the Pine Street Theatre in Portland, Oregon. It has been re-mixed from the original tapes and not only has “Love Buzz,” and “About a Girl” but a cover of The Vaselines’ song “Molly’s Lips” . What the disc really shows is how together Nirvana was before they conquered the world and that the band was extremely tight even at this young stage!
