Rachael Cantu: Far And Wide

Rachael Cantu
Far And Wide
Self Released [2009]

Fire Drill Review:
This is singer/songwriter Rachael Cantu's sophomore effort and it expands both lyrically and musically from her solid debut Run All Night [2006]. What made Run work was her young age of 24, a voice that had a personal quality to it and an album that kept things stripped down to simple guitar and vocals. Far And Wide finds Cantu older and wiser in a more upbeat foot tapping mood on "Thieves And Their Hands" and the title track, while delivering the passionate goods on opener "Devil's Thunder" and "Make A Name For Me And You", both of which have been already featured on ABC's Private Practice. Far And Wide stands up to repeat listens and as we stated in 2006, Rachael Cantu is an artist that is meant for a larger audience if you only give her a chance because nothing on this record is a let down!

Key Track: "Eaten Alive"

Band With Similar Fire: Kathleen Edwards
