The Happy HollowsSpells
Autumn Tone Records [2010]

Fire Note Says: The Happy Hollows storm your player with driving guitar and killer vocals from Sarah Negahdari.
Album Review:
The Happy Hollows are a breath of fresh air, as the female fronted band has a throwback sound to the alternative rock days of the 90's. Of course Spells is not a total retread, as the record has many sporadic post-punk moments that completely blend the past with present day. This combination puts The Happy Hollows into their own niche and is completely driven by lead singer Sarah Negahdari and her fiery and powerful chops, that simply can knock you down with their explosiveness. She is the main component on Spells but the strong bass of Charlie Mahoney and pounding skins from Chris Hernandez also help the tight song structures. The only real downside to The Happy Hollows is that Spells runs a tad long with 14 songs pushing 50 minutes but clearly they are a new talent that has great potential to grab some attention here and easily a band to watch in the near future!
