Fire Drill Review:
One Life Stand is Hot Chip's fourth record and it feels like somewhat of a back step from their last album Made In The Dark [2008]. It is not that it is awful but the album has a more mature feel to it as each beat, vocal and melody seem to be more refined and controlled. This detracts from the energy and sophistication that Hot Chip usually put forward and is especially highlighted on several ballads throughout the album. With all of that being said, there are still quality singles on One Life Stand and most of those tracks have an upbeat tempo and catchy hook that Hot Chip have always been good at!
