Jaga Jazzist: One-Armed Bandit

Jaga Jazzist
One-Armed Bandit
Ninja Tune [2010]

Fire Drill Review:
If you like to find more obscure bands out there on the fringe of different styles, then the nine piece Norwegian ensemble Jaga Jazzist will fit you like the perfect glove. Sure, their sound may have jazz elements but the group is a blended style of post-rock that will keep you guessing from the moment you hit play. The band uses a feverish pace with an array of instruments that include everything from guitar to the flute. Jaga Jazzist does an excellent job of never overwhelming you with volume but allow the listener to differentiate the direction and instrument of choice at each given moment. With tracks that flow over the seven minute mark and a 53 minute overall running time, Jaga Jazzist flaunt it all and make One-Armed Bandit the perfect listen to shake up your normal music routine!

Key Track: "Bananfluer Overalt"

Band With Similar Fire: Ratatat
