Fire Drill Review:
You have to appreciate an artist like Joe Pug that has built a following the old fashion way by playing shows and passing out, mailing out and giving out a free 2-song sampler CD to anyone who wants one. Better yet he offers them up to his current fanbase, which spread the word - genius! This method has worked, as he has sent out over 15,000 CDs and the anticipation has been high for his debut full length Messenger. The record is a pretty straightforward singer/songwriter folk offering that is inviting, warm and likable. Basically, if you enjoy thoughtful lyrics, some steel pedal, a soulful voice and mostly - a guy and his guitar, then Joe Pug is the new artist for you as Messenger won't let you down.
