Johnny CashAmerican VI: Ain't No Grave
Lost Highway Records [2010]

Fire Drill Review:
There really is only so much to say about American VI: Ain't No Grave, as it represents the last recordings of the country/rock legend Johnny Cash, which were captured during his 2006 sessions with producer Rick Rubin. This collection of ten songs definitely puts Cash's health in perspective, as his voice is frail and his delivery sounds tired but the material and aura of the record shine through. It is the perfect closure to a legendary career and it is fitting that American VI limits the modern day remakes of his previous American recordings, which is a respectful nod to the fact that Cash's presence was enough!
