Album Review:
The Desert Of Shallow Effects is the debut record from Miles Kurosky, which was the former lead singer of indie darlings Beulah. It is hard to believe that it has been six years since Beulah existed and this outing has Miles picking up right where the band left off with a total upbeat indie pop sound, which is both catchy and quirky that also gets help from more than two dozen musicians that includes several ex-Beulah members. The record has the same high likability factor of his previous band but now focuses more in on story telling and is a triumph in itself, as it has had several delays due to severe shoulder issues that prevented Kurosky from playing guitar followed by kidney problems that required hospital time. Although these road bumps prevented The Desert Of Shallow Effects from any earlier release, the experiences have only made Kurosky more focused and driven to release a quality product. The album connects the dots for him as lyrically it is the most personal and sophisticated of his career. What makes The Desert Of Shallow Effects so strong, is its timelessness appeal, which makes it an enjoyable listen no matter when you put it on and really highlights Miles Kurosky as a solo artist to watch now that his career is back on track!

Great review - also really enjoying Desert of Shallow Effects so far. I'm hoping to catch him on tour within the next month - he's got a bunch of dates up on his myspace page.. Everyone should check this album out, really good stuff.
