Fire Drill Review:
So, I have been spinning the sophomore record Big Echo from The Morning Benders for about a month now and it took that long for it to suddenly click. At first listen, the songs on Big Echo rolled by me with little effect but after several intense sittings with the album, its elegance totally took me over. It is a collection of sunny pop songs that represent a perfect marriage of Shin like vocals with Grizzly Bear type grooves. This allows the entire album to sway side to side and highlights its layered harmonies, which empowers each track but never stifles its smooth tempo transitions. This laid back approach is infectious and makes Big Echo a must listen, while putting The Morning Benders on the map!
