PavementQuarantine The Past: The Best Of Pavement
Matador Records [2010]

Fire Drill Review:
The only real thing to argue about here is the track list because the new "best of", according to the band, from indie starlets Pavement, is a fun reminder of why we loved them and all of their studio output. Sure there are several missing components to this 23 track experience, like the two biggies off of Wowee Zowee [1995], "Rattled By The Rush" and "Father To A Sister Of Thought" but their replacements focus in on the multitude of EP material the band released. Quarantine sounds more like a concert set list, as the tracks are not in chronological order (which I personally like) and essentially gives anyone a much better picture of what Pavement were all about. Of course this release will get support from the bands recent reunion and upcoming tour, which will only leave the question of new material - let's hope so because this record just highlights the enjoyment that is Pavement!
