Fire Drill Review:
As much as I would like to toss this all covers record from Gabriel to the side, there is something about it that keeps me pulled in. His song selections are very intriguing as he covers newer artists like Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Elbow, and Bon Iver, as well as his peers like Bowie, Paul Simon and Lou Reed. His approach on most of the tracks deconstructs the songs and reduces them down to a simmer. This direction makes it much harder to recognize songs but lets Gabriel's still powerful vocals rise to the occasion. Nothing on here will necessarily keep you coming back but it was a nice experiment that neither greatly succeeded nor failed miserably.
