Fire Note Says: An excellent sophomore outing!
Album Review:
There is something about Icelandic bands that just ooze elegance and Seabear's sophomore record, We Built A Fire possesses the same aurora. Seabear has come a long way from its early beginnings, which started as solo-project of Sindri Már Sigfússon (aka Sin Fang Bous) and now has become a creative collective of seven Icelandic musicians. We Built A Fire showcases this approach, as all members of the band had equal input in the writing process and while Sigfússon's distinguishable voice is front and center the band is consistently heard throughout, by the way of memorable harmonies. The entire record leaves a lasting impression, as Seabear shift from being just an indie folk group to venturing into rock and simple balladry. We Built A Fire's subtle mild paced song tempos, each take a second to sink in but keep your attention, as Seabear injects moments of instrument explosion layered within complex song structures. This is the true formula that will have you coming back for more and putting Seabear as a group you will enjoy throughout the year!
