Black Francis: NonStopErotik

Fire Note Says: Nothing wrong with past, present or future Black Francis!

Album Review:
I will be the first to admit that I sometimes really enjoy living in the past by cranking out the Pixies classics, which never gets old. I also will admit that ever since the Pixies broke up (or have not released anything new) I have excitedly checked out everything frontman Black Francis has released. Of course, I know that recapturing that past album magic is a tall order but recently Francis's releases have done a fairly good job turning back the clock and NonStopErotik is no different. Sure this record doesn't have the same punch or venom but you could easily insert rockers "Six Legged Man" or "Dead Man's Curve" on a Pixies track list and never know the difference. What does make NonStopErotik separate itself from Black's earlier work are the several ballads like "Rabbits" and the title track, which definitely shows the maturing side of Francis plus the Flying Burrito Brothers' cover of "Wheels" is a new twist. Overall, fans of any Black Francis era should add NonStopErotik to their collection, as it not only reflects on his past but steers you towards his future!

Key Tracks: "Six Legged Man", "Dead Man's Curve", "Cinema Star"
