Black PrairieFeast Of The Hunters' Moon
Sugar Hill Records [2010]

Fire Drill Review:
Portland, Oregon-based Black Prairie features three-fifths of The Decemberists and two of the city's finest folk stylists. The album is heavy on the acoustics and entrenched in bluegrass but will have an intriguing appeal to a multitude of indie fans. The record has more instrumentals then it does vocal tracks, which emphasizes Black Prairie's true strength and it contains the same lush musical depth that can be found on a Decemberists record. The album was produced by Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, Death Cab For Cutie) and sets itself apart from a more traditional bluegrass outing with its very dark and deep undertones. The combination of instruments creates a perfect tension and makes Black Prairie your favorite underground record to just let play and get lost in their murky but wonderful world!
