Fire Drill Review:
There is not much to say about a veteran singer/songwriter that is on his 19th full length record. John Hiatt is an Americana staple and on The Open Road he brings another lesson on how to inject just enough rock into folk based songs, while squeezing in noticeable bluesy undertones. The man from Indiana always has something to say and although The Open Road will not go down as his greatest achievement, it showcases some of his strongest sounding vocals in years and will backup something fans already know - Hiatt is a class act that should not be passed by!
