The Method Actors: This Is Still It

The Method Actors
This Is Still It
Acute Records [2010]

Fire Drill Review:
Most of the time, reviewing record after record is a great gig but it also has its downside being that it gets harder to be impressed by a group and better yet, surprised from a record. All of this usually stays true and then comes a record from 80's Athens, GA band The Method Actors. This record has a completely thrilling sound and is a good mix of Talking Head like vocals with a more revved up post-punk groove. The Method Actors were circulating the same scene that gave rise to R.E.M. and the B-52's, so it is still a bit of a surprise to me that I knew nothing about them. This release captures most of their recordings and is the perfect chance to catch up and be completely surprised too with a band that has been there all this time. Shame on me for not knowing about The Method Actors - shame on you if you don't now go seek them out!
