The SlackersThe Great Rocksteady Swindle
Hellcat Records [2010]

Fire Drill Review:
The Great Rocksteady Swindle is The Slackers 12th studio album and is a credit to the bands continuing vitality and longevity in the music scene. The Slackers have always released an authentic version of ska that never strays too far from what they do best. The band has not only survived ska going underground but represent exactly why ska should have more widespread appeal. The songs are all well thought out and have a rhythm that can't be denied. The Great Rocksteady Swindle highlights why The Slackers are so different, as some of the lyrical material is much darker then the ska stereotype and rocker "Sabina" keeps things fresh. This record is not going to break ska out to the mainstream but should be essential for anyone checking out the scene or old fans looking for a current ska status report - guess what - it's alive!
