Fire Drill Review:
When you are a band that pushes the limits and offers up a challenging and somewhat experimental listen each and every time, there always needs to be a sense of caution to the listener. The sister act of CocoRosie is one of those bands and on their new full length Grey Oceans, you can hear the artistic approach knocking but never actually seem to get anything that makes you want to hang around and open the door. Long time followers will still appreciate Grey Oceans but will recognize some of the missed opportunities, as songs move away from ideas too quickly. Grey Oceans is a record that will already have a niche appeal because CocoRosie are, and like being different, so at the end of the day it is all about where you are coming from and if you are up for the challenge!
