Doves: The Places Between - The Best Of Doves

Doves
The Places Between: The Best Of Doves
EMI Music [2010]
(2 CD / 1 DVD Set)

Fire Drill Review:
Twelve years in the music business is a lifetime and in that span Manchester, England band Doves have released four solid albums that always have included rich textures, sweeping melodies and impressive pop qualities regardless if the tone of the songs are dark or light. They have always released tracks that stick in your head long after they conclude as this package highlights. The hits disc leans heavily on their more popular first two records (9 out of the 14 tracks previously released) and you get one new catchy track added in with "Andalucia". The second disc adds 19 more tracks to this package which is full of rarities, B sides and alternative versions plus a third DVD that contains all of their videos. The Doves may never catch on in the US but The Places Between would be a perfect place to start for the unfamiliar, while the added discs are a must for fans. Regardless of where they go from here, the Doves have given us twelve years of excellent work and this collections shows it off!
