I remember reading about The Get Up Kids throwing in the towel and just being disappointed. They were always a band that I thought just "got it". Their style of emo punk was what everyone wanted to sound like, their tracks were always catchy and you always felt like the band gave it their all. On their first recording in six years, the Simple Science EP picks up like it is 1999 again, as these four songs could fit in on the bands now classic record Something To Write Home About [1999]. What makes The Get Up Kids return here so great is that the songs were written spontaneously and recorded mostly live to 2" tape. Almost no computer technology was used, which gives Simple Science an old school punk vibe that makes it an absolute winner and a welcome back to the party for The Get Up Kids. Can't wait for a full length!
