Fire Drill Review:
At some point you need to recognize your strengths and get back to your roots if things just don't seem to be going your way. Since 2008's Perfect Symmetry, Keane have been tweaking their sound and almost have tried to hard to crack out of their mold. The problem is that they are too good at soaring catchy Brit melodies, that suck you into their emotions and without them they lose their identity. Night Train once again finds the band trying a bit hard at aiming for the mainstream. Too many songs on this mini-album (8 total tracks) start in great directions but lose their way with a bit too much of pop music tinkering in the mix. Ultimately, Keane need to focus on their strengths and the mainstream success will come back without overdoing it!
