Fire Note Says: Arizona band trying to break out with solid sophomore record St. Vincent Decor!
Album Review:
Blackmarket hail from Lake Havasu, Arizona and have sort of worked backwards to achieve success here in the US market with their blend of Brit-pop and alternative rock. The band has had solid momentum in Japan and played the Fuji Rock Festival, they have toured across Germany and just wrapped a tour with the UK's Subways. Definitely Blackmarket is a band with promise as sophomore record St. Vincent Decor finds them playing a much more focused and controlled batch of tracks that has more swagger and sway then their previous efforts. There are more songs found here that pull the volume down and rely on melody to sell their point. This new direction works well for Blackmarket as St. Vincent Decor has a likable balance between rocking out and just letting the songs hooks pull you in. Not sure if this is the album that will break out Blackmaret here in the US but given a chance it should start to establish them as a band to keep an ear on moving forward.
