Fire Drill Review:
You may or may not know that Karen Elson is not only a supermodel but Jack White's wife, so the pressure for her record to be superb was probably a little overbearing. The key here is that Elson can sing as she tackles these twelve folkish/bluegrass tracks with an extreme amount of confidence. Her vocals don't necessarily soar but they do command notice, as she takes complete control over the role of storyteller for these tales. The recording is great, the musical support is excellent and more than one track here gives you that chilling feeling that all good sirens can deliver. With her debut out of the way and a very strong supporting cast I think Elson will only get better!
