Fire Drill Review:
I can usually count on one punk rock record a year taking over my player and contending for a spot on The Fire Note Top 50. Well - I think I found the 2010 record. It is none other then the sophomore album from the raw punk rock of Minneapolis' Off With Their Heads. In Desolation is a non-stop ride for a perfect 34 minutes and will have you fist pumping along with every catchy track. What makes this record so solid is that the lead and commanding vocal from Ryan Young sells In Desolation and with his vocally rugged delivery he can strike a chord with so many. It is the athematic action found here combined with the energy of the band that makes Off With Their Heads and In Desolation a better spin every time. If any group can pull punk-rock out of the ashes then Off With Their Heads has just released the record to do it with, as In Desolation, potentially and hopefully will expand well past the current smaller state of punk rock followers.
