Fire Drill Review:
Like most groups of this nature, electronic and mostly instrumental group Ratatat have the tough job, album after album, of creating something different, while retaining their musical core which attracted their audience to them in the first place. On the groups fourth record, LP4, the band travels down the same road and revisits the tracks mostly developed during the Old Soul sessions, which saw the first batch released on LP3 [2008]. LP4 is a consistent effort and basically adds several new instruments to the party to differentiate itself. Basically if you like Ratatat then you will still enjoy this record, as it is almost the companion piece to LP3. For newcomers to the group this record would not be the place to start as it feels more like retread in too many places then it does revolutionary like some of their early work.
