Fire Drill Review:
STP rolled back onto the scene here recently and their self titled record proves that it was not just some attempt at making a quick buck doing tours. Even though the album does not succeed on every track, you still get at least four or five songs that could catch on in the right setting and remind you of what made Stone Temple Pilots rock radio kings. STP bring it all back with heavy guitar riffs, Weiland's recognizable wail and strategically placed hooks to keep the listener's attention. Of course radio is completely different now and there will probably be less ears for this release but that doesn't mean the record still does not rock out. Overall, STP is a no frills - straight up rock n roll affair that will bring the long time followers back into the fold, while attracting a whole new set of STP heads. Sure it may not totally represent their heyday but a true effort exists here, so don't be afraid to check it out and live up the nostalgia!
