Fire Drill Review:
You already know a band is a big deal if they can open for Neil Young before their full length is even released. Dublin's Villagers is basically a one man show, as Conor J. O'Brien plays most of the instruments and has a very folk-rock sound similar to Bright Eyes. O'Brien has all the right stuff, as Becoming A Jackal is completely engaging and has a nice balance of tempos and strong singing/songwriting throughout. This kind of debut and slow building hype really only leaves the question of what Villagers will do next, as Becoming A Jackal is definitely worth checking out and stands up very well to repeat listens!
