Defiance, Ohio: Midwestern Minutes

Fire Note Says: Looking for an upbeat compact record that sounds good with the windows down - Defiance, Ohio can fill your void!

Album Review:
Look no further then Defiance, Ohio's fourth long player Midwestern Minutes if you are up for an honest record of indie punk that has a folk lifeline running through its core. This record finds the band at a much more mature song structure crossroad that shows off their experience and expanded patience to let songs build, even if they still are contained into a two minute time frame. This does not mean at all, that the band has toned down their energy, as each track has its moments of fiery pitches but on the over four minute (band record) "Hairpool" the group seems excited to keep the strumming going. Likewise, there are two one minute tracks that still impact the record and make you quickly sing along! Overall, there is nothing really revolutionary with Defiance, Ohio but they don't try to recreate the wheel here - they aim to make a perfect one with fun catchy lyrics and hooks that make their songs memorable. Midwestern Minutes is just a solid album that today feels like a unique sound, as there just is not that many groups putting out quality compact indie pop punk records like this anymore, therefore you can give me a little Defiance, Ohio any day!
