Colour Revolt: The Cradle

Fire Note Says: Colour Revolt refocuses and lets out their inner-self.

Album Review:
Core members Jesse Coppenbarger and Sean Kirkpatrick are back with Colour Revolt's sophomore album The Cradle, which is a record that oozes indie rock with a clear Southern blues infusion. It is a record that does take some time to get into, as the tracks are initially like being invited to a party but then sitting by yourself and watching everyone enjoy themselves. It is after another spin that you become part of the inner circle and connect with the Colour Revolt's aggression, stories and sense of humor. This dynamic is more appreciated after knowing that The Cradle was recorded in a whirlwind seven day session at Echo Mountain Studios in Asheville, NC with producer Hank Sullivant (MGMT, The Whigs). It showcases the organic freedom in these tracks, regardless if it is the heavy rock riff in "Mona Lisa" or the honest restraint in opening track "8 Years". The Cradle is not a record that gives you many hooks or melodies but Colour Revolt hold your attention by offering shifting song styles, bluesy rock undertones and a new found confidence that lets Coppenbarger and Kirkpatrick just do their thing.

Key Tracks: "She Don't Talk", "8 Years", "Everything Is The Same"
