The Dandy WarholsBest Of The Capitol Years 1995-2007
Capitol Records [2010]

Fire Drill Review:
"Heroin is so passe" is a line that I never thought would come out of my mouth, let along singing it but that all changed with the release of The Dandy Warhols record The Dandy Warhols Come Down and their hit "Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth" in 1997. The Portland band's flare for mixing in a hook with their psychedelic influenced rock always brought a certain attitude and swagger with it that put The Dandy Warhols in their own league. This compilation does a nice job capturing their major label years and is a perfect collection for anyone who missed out. It includes a non-released track from that era called "This Is The Tide" plus a fairly even representation from all their Capitol records with a chronological track listing. It is still too bad this compilation doesn't cover their independent debut that got them signed because it contained several essential noise rockers that would really help listeners witness their transformation on record but for the most part the Capitol years was still easily their most catchy and creative. Like so many other bands, The Dandy Warhols still have never broke out as big as I expected but after checking out Best Of The Capitol Years 1995-2007, you will instantly know it wasn't because of the music because The Dandy Warhols provide one entertaining listen from beginning to end!
