Fourth Of JulyBefore Our Hearts Explode!
Fire Note Says: Relationships can be tough - Fourth Of July tell you why - indie style!
Album Review:
It took three years to get a sophomore record from Lawrence, Kansas band Fourth Of July but the indie sincerity on Before Our Hearts Explode! was well worth the wait. The record once again features the three Hangauer and two Costello brothers, telling their tale through eleven songs that live the endgame of a relationship, which covers all aspects including drunk dials, infidelities and dealing with a long distance. Basically the record tackles all topics that make relationships so hard but make music about them so easy. Fourth Of July returns with the same loose song structures that made their debut so infectious and helps each track here move along with no expectations, as the hooks grab you and the lyrical wordplay captures your mind because at some point, all listeners can relate on some level. It is this connection that makes Before Our Hearts Explode! worth every minute and has you rooting for the relationship right down to the closing track "Come Home". Fourth Of July do not need any tricks to make you enjoy this record, as their Midwestern solid indie rock will capture your ear from the first note!
