Fire Note Says: Suuns offer up a unique challenging listen here on debut that pays off - if you let it!
Album Review:
Montreal's Suuns debut, Zeroes QC, caught my attention right from the opening track "Armed For Peace" with its starting crackling electronic beats, that after a minute, transition into ripping guitar chords, which then leads us to the vocal beginnings, nearly hitting at the two minute mark. This intense son
g building is the practice that the Suuns engage in throughout the record, which gives the band a very unique flavor. It is an album, that has many blending styles, such as leaning more electronic on the dark dance infused "Arena" or weighted in shoegaze on "Gaze", while the beats and vocals stir the pot on "Up Past The Nursery". Zeroes QC may not have an overall consistency to bring tons of people to the Suuns party but they do have a creativity and uniqueness to them, which is definitely worth keeping an ear on and definitely worth checking out here for something fresh.Key Tracks: "Up Past The Nursery", "Gaze", "PVC"
