Fire Note Says: Let The Soft Moon mesmerize you with their dark sounds.
Album Review:
Luis Vasquez of The Soft Moon, has completed his self-titled debut full-length of post-punk mayhem that is both hypnotic and invigorating. His music is very physical, as songs can give you motion sickness, such as the spiraling "Circles" a
nd give you goose bumps like the grinding and haunting ghostly vocals in "We Are We". The Soft Moon bring their tracks to the edge before pulling them back in without warning. The music swirls around you, as a large portion of the album's tracks are instrumental but the general mood here, with vocals or without, is somewhat creepy and dark. These shrieking noises that pulse in and out, or on some tracks like "Primal Eyes" they just stay, gives The Soft Moon an edge and uniqueness that sets them apart. This is a record that needs multiple spins to appreciate and even taking one tour with headphones is recommended because The Soft Moon present a sonic experience that simply gets more intriguing and complex on each successive spin. This is where the record shines and why spending some time with The Soft Moon will pay a reward!Key Tracks: "Circles", "Tiny Spiders", "We Are We"
