The Beets: Stay Home

The Beets
Stay Home
Captured Tracks Records [2011]

Fire Note Says: The Beets show you why staying at home is the best thing ever!

Album Review:
The carefree vibe on The Beets sophomore outing mirrors its stay at home themes and it is what really makes the album so listenable. The Beets take lo-fi pop to the extreme, as its 13 tracks are basically in demo mode but compared to their debut Spit On The Face Of People Who Don't Want To Be Cool [2009], it might as well be in stereo, as the lyrics and call out choruses are now much more audible. The record is under 30 minutes, so there is no fooling around and Stay Home never wears out its welcome because even in the tracks small packages there are big melodies that hold well after their completion. The Beets are not a band that will earn tons of praise for their musicianship nor their high fidelity but the group provides you with a fun laid back record that is the definition of indie rock and is much more catchy than you would ever imagine!

Key Tracks: "Floating", "Just A Whim", "Watching T.V."
