Those Dancing Days: Daydreams & Nightmares

Fire Note Says: That is right - Those Dancing Days are a slice of sweet pop rock - get over it!

Album Review:
I am actually glad I did not give up on the sophomore effort Daydreams & Nightmares from Sweden's all girl group Those Dancing Days because it took several plays to "get" it. The band expands from their more simple indie pop debut into a much more ferocious vehicle that is polished with hooks, contains in your face guitars and keeps time with crisp drums that all grandly supports the smooth as ever vocals of lead singer Linnea Jonsson. On the surface and on first spin, it might feel that Those Dancing Days have lost their way and Daydreams & Nightmares is too shiny but on repeat listens the eleven tracks really start to mess with your brain. "Hope Me Close My Eyes" is a perfect example of how such a simple track can reign you in with a giant hooking chorus while "Fuckarias" is one of the most rowdy tracks Those Dancing Days has ever released and its teeth hit hard with its feverish pace. For the most part the record keeps the same formula rolling but at a running time of 37 minutes it holds your interest all the way through. Those Dancing Days do not bring anything new the table but Daydreams & Nightmares is pop rock executed correctly and at the end of the day it fills a void and provides plenty of highlights to keep you coming back!

Key Tracks: "I'll Be Yours", "Help Me Close My Eyes", "Fuckarias"
