Broken BellsMeyrin Fields EP
Columbia Records [2011]

Fire Note Says: This is the stylistic groove we were looking for on Broken Bells debut.
Album Review:
The Meyrin Fields EP is the second release from the James Mercer (Shins) and Brian Burton(Danger Mouse) vehicle Broken Bells that weirdly enough is what I thought their debut would sound more like. The first two tracks push musical boundaries and highlight what makes each of these artist unique just by themselves. I find it interesting that these "b sides" did not fit on the album because all four sound fully realized and should have worked. Both "Meyrin Fields" and "Windows" have a creative edge to them that brings intensity to this recording and gives me faith that Broken Bells could easily still release one hell of a record in the future!
Key Tracks: "Meyrin Fields", "Windows"
Bands With Similar Fire:
Gorillaz
Beck
Tricky
